Balu Mahendra (Naga Chaitanya) is brillain at studies. He comes state first in Class X, Intermediate an even in Eamcet he is state first ranker. Naturally, he carries an air of superiority about him. He is also very egocentric.
Mahalakshmi (Tamanna) is a cousin of Balu. She has studied Inter in a village and that too in Telugu medium. She is the daughter of Balu’s aunt (menattha). Balu’s father Naresh brings her to the city and gets her admitted in the same college where Balu is doing engineering.
Balu has very low opinion about Mahalakshmi, as she is poor in studies (just 55% in Intermediate). However, Mahalakshmi loves Balu immensely but he does not reciprocate her love.
After some days, Balu slowly gets attracted to Mahalakshmi. His ego does not allow him to admit it so he tells her that it is not love but just infatuation.
Balu’s life comes crashing down when Mahalakshmi comes first in college – with Balu being relegated to the second place. In the next semester Balu gets another big shock, Ajith who has always been coming second has not come first. Balu is peeved and cannot digest it.
So Balu and Mahalakshmi make peace and come to an understanding. They both will work hard and only one of them should come first, it does not matter who. Ajith should not come first.
To make it foolproof they hatch a plan whereby Mahalakshmi pretends that she love Ajith. This is to divert his attention from studies and make him lose concentration. It work and Balu comes first with Mahalakshmi second and Ajith coming third.
Balu is happy and he gets ready to tell Mahalakshmi that she loves him. However when sh tells Bslu that despite all their tricks Ajith has still managed to get 95% and that is indeed great.
Balu cannot digest Mahalakshmi calling Ajith great. They have a fight and part ways. Balu tells Mahalakshmi that if she ever needs a job he will give it to her in his company. Mahalakshmi challenges Balu that she will come to the rescue of Balu when he is in trouble and then make Balu say – ‘That is Mahalakshmi’.
They meet after three years but still carry the same attitude. Therefore, they once again fight and drift apart. In order to tease Mahalakshmi, Balu says that he is marrying his personal assistant. Mahalakshmi hits back Balu with the same coin by saying that she is ready to marry Ajith.
The wedding cards are printed and as the marriage date approaches, circumstances force Balu and Mahlakshmi to work together on a project.
What happens next? Balu’s grandfather Vijay Kumar and grandmother KR Vijaya are living separately for 30 years because of a small misunderstanding and ego problem. Will the same thing be repeated in the life of Balu and Mahalakshmi? Well, this suspense part must be watched on the screen.
Analysis
100% Love is a fell good love entertainer. The film is cool and connects with the target audiences – today’s youth perfectly. The film is told in flashback style with Naga Chaitanya telling about his life and Tamanna doing the same.
Director Sukumar must be commended for coming up with a fresh concept and presenting it in a different way. The story is simple but the screenplay is engrossing. The music by Devi Sree Prasad also adds to the film and the final product is a decent film that one can watch and enjoy.
